Responsible gambling

21+ (18+ where permitted). Bet only where sports betting is legal, and only with licensed, regulated sportsbooks in your state or jurisdiction. Half Point Club is not a sportsbook, does not take bets, and does not hold funds. This site contains no affiliate links or sportsbook promotions.

Everything we publish is for entertainment and information only. It is not betting advice, and no outcome is guaranteed. Losses are a normal part of betting.

Get help now

  • 1-800-GAMBLER — call 1-800-GAMBLER (1-800-426-2537). This is the number in our site and newsletter footer.
  • National Problem Gambling Helpline, run by the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG): call or text 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738). NCPG says the helpline is confidential and connects you with help in your state. Its older number, 1-800-522-4700, is also listed on NCPG’s site. More at ncpgambling.org/help-treatment and 1800myreset.org.

Note: 1-800-GAMBLER and 1-800-MY-RESET are different numbers run by different organizations. Either one can point you to help.

Set limits and self-exclusion

  • At your sportsbook: licensed online sportsbooks usually offer deposit, wager and time limits, cool-off periods and self-exclusion in your account settings or on their responsible-gaming page. Use them before you need them.
  • State programs: many states run voluntary self-exclusion programs through their gaming regulator. NCPG’s Help by State map lists local resources, or call 1-800-MY-RESET to be connected.
  • Peer support: Gamblers Anonymous runs free meetings in person and online.

Staying in control

  • Set a budget you can afford to lose before you start, and stop when it is gone.
  • Never chase losses. A bigger bet to “get it back” is how small losses become big ones.
  • Set time limits and take breaks. Don’t bet when upset, tired, or drinking.
  • Keep a record of every bet, win or lose.
  • Don’t borrow money or use money meant for bills to bet.
  • If betting stops being fun, stop and talk to someone. Use the numbers above.
